STORY BY: Blue Heeler SunFire

Blue Heeler SunFire watches as the waiter brings out the food. "So did you find out anything useful last night, Nap?" Napalm takes a large sip of his soft drink and then fixes Blue with an almost puzzled look. "Besides the fact," the dog continued. "that this place has lots of icecream."
Naplam sets the pitcher down, as recognition seems to set in. "Oh! Yeah, that stuff we got, well, by and large we didn't find much, mostly stuff we already knew, however, I do know why they kept that place so well secure."
"Oh, and why's that?" Blue eats his meal rather quickly, being hungry for some reason
Napalm reaches into an inside pocket of his robe and pulls out a yellowed piece of paper, that despite its obvious age is in perfect condition. It is filled with writing of some sort, but not of a type anyone of the others can understand. Felinar rubs his most recent injury idly as he picks at his food, obviously not interested in the conversation.
"It appears to be the actual contract between our dearly departed Mr. Awardings and our all too living nemisis Morlong.
    "OH" Blue pircks up.
Napalm sets it on the table for the others to inspect. "See, look right there, you can see both their signitures at the bottom" The wolf indicates two sets of very unusual characters that look nothing like signitures.
Felinar leans back in his chair, sighing wearily as he pulls a few strands of his long mane from his eyes. "And this is important, why?"
"Well, it used to be important. After the death of Mr. Awardings, there was no further need to protect it as it is now null and void."
Blue looks over at Felinar, "It's important because this proves that the Awardings and that mage dude had an agreement, it also explains how the Awardings had so much power.
"To make a long and boring contract short, I'll summurize what it says." Napalm explains. "Basically, in exchange for finances and technology from Mr. Awardings, Morlong gave him the secrets to stop aging, create better soldiers, and do many more things with his mystic arts that science has yet to uncover."
Felinar frowns slightly. "That sounds familiar."
Blue adds. "So it's from Morlong that my father got altered.
Napalm answers, "Yes, its much what you might expect from an alliance of these two, of course, you'll notice that this is no ordinarty contract. Thats a reasonable assumption, or perhaps this is the reason he had begun to seek you after so many years. Now he has the secrets to unlock the powers that are still within you; and turn them to his own will, of course."
Blue growls, "I'd rather die than let that happen."
Felinar turns to look at Blue. "So this is why you've been losin' it, eh? The Awardings trying to take over your mind."
"But as I was saying, you'll note first of all, that despite the age of this document, as it easily over 30 years old, it is in perfect condition." Napalm idly tosses the document onto his now empty plate and casually waves his paw over it, staring a small but hot fire which full envelopes it. "As you'll see, this is not accident, or testiment to the service provided by those who guarded it." He extinguishes the fire again, revealing an unscathed document. "It's impervious to all damage do to the enchantments that bind these two parties."
    "Wow." Blue looks impressed.
"It took me most of the night to even recall the proper spells that would allow me to decifer such arcane symbols, magic really wasn't my strong suit. However, once I began working, I began to realize what it actually was. I also uncovered a rather intersting stipulation in the contract, that I believe Mr. Awardings was unaware of."
    "Oh, what's that?"
"Should either party default on its half of the agreement, they lose their soul to the other party."
    "Ooops."
    Felinar says dryly, "...Cute."
Napalm continues, "It is intersting to note, that while beyond Mr. Awardings control, he has defaulted on the agreement, and as such his soul probably is residing quite uncomfortably in one or Morlong's soul gems."
"Can't say Im' sorry." the dog states.
"I don't envy him that arrangement. Well, it's no less than he deserved, but we may not have seen the last of Mr. Awardings."
"Mr. Awardings visited my village once." Felinar remembers, "back before I was...before I left. I can barely remember."
"What do you remember of that time, Fel?" The dog asks. Napalm slowly folds and places the document back inside his robe.
Felinar shrugs slightly. "I don't even remember what he did. Only that my father was angry at him for something."
"I guess I should be glad that he was only mad at the Awardings, and not the WatchDogs in general, or we might never have met." Blue smiles warmly at Felinar. Felinar looks over at Blue, then looks down. Napalm reaches into the opposite side of his robe and removes a CD. He places it on the table noislessly and waits until the other two have completed their exchange. Blue looks ovr at the cd.
Napalm looks up at Blue, "This is the only other thing we retrieved from the secure sections of the building. I don't know exactly what it contains, but I assure you it isn't the latest release on the pop charts."
Felinar glances up. "Really. I'm crushed."
Naplm continues, "If we can get this to a computer and figure out how to access it, I believe it will contain a record of most of Mr. Awardings less savory dealings over the past several years."
Blue suggests. "There's a computer back in the office behind the desk." He puts a paw on Felinar's paw in a move of friendship.
"Well, don't let me stop you from trying." Naplm replys. "I just hope it has the facilities to access what's there."
Felinar looks at Blue for a moment before withdrawing his paw and standing up. "Let's try."
Blue, still smiling warmly, stands and leads the way to the computer. Napalm nods, downing the last of his soft drink before rising. Felinar follows the canine slowly, his tail swishing behind him. Blue leads over to the computer after asking the manager to leave politely, then puts the cd in the computer. Napalm leans against the wall within sight of the screen, watching with idle curiousity as Blue goes about his task. The dog accesses the cd, then blinks as it asks for a password.
Blue looks at the other two, "Well, any guesses?"
Felinar shrugs slightly. "I'm no hacker, that was....Kalla's specialty." His expression appears slightly pained as he speaks the feminine name.
"Okay then." He reaches into the bottom drawer of he desk and pulls out a floppy disk. Inserting it in the machine, he accesss it and starts the cracker program working. Blue watches the program slowly find the password. Napalm looks on with mild interst, wathing the various
numbers fly by quickly.
"It's not gonna erase the data or anything if you get the combo wrong, is it?" Felinar asks.
"I don't know, i hope not." the dog says as he watches the screen some more, "looks like it's almost done."
Relinar nods slightly, as Napalm makes no comment, not really sure whether its actually doing anything or not, but not careing enough to say anything.
Blue sees the comptuer done, and hits enter. The computer monitor suddenly displays a listing. "Can you read this Nap, it's in a language I don't understand."
"Of course, its more of that same language we saw on that old document we found at your brother's place." Napalm scans the information on the screen then shrugs. "Not much there, is there more?" Blue changes to another folder. Napalm almost instantly responds. "Well, they're lists of dates, organized by years. Each different one you load up, seems to be his activities for that year, but you'd think there'd be....ooooh, thats nifty." Naplm exclaims as Blue scrolls down the list, "How'd you get it move like that?"
Blue grins at Felinar, then turnns to Napalm, "It's the miricle of modern technology, maybe your long lived race should upgrade with the times."
"Well, its awfully hard to get this stuff working inside an active volcano. But to be perfectly honest we did upgrade all our records to CD-ROM last year. Whatever that means. Phillis keeps track of all the computer stuff though."
Felinar states shortly, "Well? Is there anything there or not?"
"Yeah, what should we be looking for?" Blue questions.
Napalm looks at the screen, "I'm not sure, show me how to make that thing move and I'll scan through this as quickly as I can." Blue shows the wolf how to use the computer. Napalm watches, then after a few tries learning how to use the mouse he starts flipping through documents at a blurring speed. The wolf's eyes begins to cast a faint red light onto the screen as they begin to glow, his conscious mind fully on the task at hand.
Blue looks sidelongly over at Felinar. The lion doesn't notice Blue's look, as he is standing in a semi-relaxed posture against the door frame, looking down at the floor.
"Ahh, here's a note of interest." Napalm says distractly.
"What's that?" Blue says, but keeps looking over at Felinar.
"Mr. Awardings did take a trip to the town where you mentioned you grew up, Felinar.
    Felinar glances up suddenly. "What?"
"It says he was there looking for soldiers to volunteer for his new program."
    "....What program?"
Blue looks back at the computer suddenly.
"It list the attempt as a failure due to "the small mindness of that countries inhabitants." Napalm states with a shrug. "Not sure. It doesn't mention anything specific, though from what I gather, probably another attempt at creating super soldiers."
